Worst Day Ever

So my parents are in Mexico. Last week when I dropped them off my dad said, I think we get in about the same time next week. 9:30. I will send you an email. Well, last night I started panicking thinking, NO EMAIL. So I mentally freaked out and woke up every 20 minutes from 6:00 am on. Finally I packed up Jett and the bag, went over to my moms, grabbed her car and drove to the airport. I keep trying all of their cell phones, nobody has their phone on. I think, ok, they are still in customs, no biggie. I park in the cell phone waiting area (genius idea by the way) and wait. I keep checking the phone when all of a sudden I get a facebook email from my mom saying that she was excited to see me TONIGHT and that dad thought the time was still 9:30. Along with flight info to track it BEFORE I left for the airport, you know, so you don't have to wait! AHHHH

SO I start the car and begin driving. BING BING the has light comes on. It must have beeped before when my dad drove us all TOO the airport and I missed it, because the level is WAAAAY low and it is giving me mean messages. SO I being driving, looking out for the nearest gas station. Jett starts FREAKING OUT. I try handing him food in the back seat, he chucks it on the floor. I am trying not to yell, just saying, Jetty, don't throw that! Here, have some crackers! Its not going well. So I pull over and let him out of the seat for a minute. Instantly happy.

Jett, we don't have any gas, we can't just park here and play. We have got to go home. Suddenly the stress of just getting home is getting to my head. Jett is screaming, I am watching the gas line, while driving, handing Jett treats, and looking for a gas station. Finally I pull into one. I being searching for my wallet. HMMM where is it? I CAN'T FIND IT. I left it in MY CAR. IN MY MOMS DRIVEWAY. I try calling Mick just in case I don't make it and he has to come rescue me. Not only does he not answer the phone, my phone is about dead with no charger. I can't handle it. I am blocking out Jett's screams just saying to myself repeatedly, we are almost to my moms house!

Needless to say, I got to her house, found my wallet, switched cars and went home. Then I realize I have a meeting today for work that I was hoping my mom could babysit for. Its not long, but I already told them I could make it.

So, I am off to find a baby sitter... Heres hoping tonights pick up goes a little smoother.

Jett Walking

Jett would only take 3-4 steps on his birthday and within about a day or two he was walking across the whole room. It has been a while, but I thought I would at least post some video of him walking. This is right before bed so he is really hyper.

Back to work 2

Work is good.  Being a mom is good.  Both at the same time?  Tricky.  I work two days from 12-9pm and Saturdays.  At first I thought this would give me a lot of time at home with Jett.  I love working, love my job.  SOOOOOO much better than before.  The days I am home, however, are busy.  I have a lot of errands to get done.  Jett spends a lot of time at the car.  I feel like he is being pawned off on people a lot.  Like my mom.  And Bree.  I want Jett to spend time with them, but I don't want them to feel like I abuse their time.  I need to think of fun activities we can do at home.  I am starting to feel like a boring / rotten mother.

Just venting,

Brooke
Sometimes I feel like we have a puppy instead of a son. I find myself often saying "come here boy" and then laughing. Mick laughs and says "he isn't a dog". However, I find him crawling around the floor eating every crumb he dropped at his earlier meals and snacks. He comes when I call him. His newest trick is to wave on command. It always gets a smile from the strangers in line with us. He also makes funny noises similar to a bark. So you tell me!

The party

We had a small party, just immediate family, for Jett's birthday.  It was very fun.  He ate his cake like a lady.  A little messy for no utensils, but it was like, Yum, I have this all the time!  He got a ton of fun presents and we just need to get some batteries for him to enjoy to the fullest.

The play day

For Jett's birthday we decided instead of having a party of friends over to have cake we would all just go to the local indoor playground and let the kids run wild!  I took Jett and Greyson to a similar place a few weeks ago and it seemed to be a fun adventure.

This time for Jett was not the fun adventure we had before.  He refused to leave my lap.  I think spending the entire day away from me the day before might have triggered it.  Either that or because he is teething.  Needless to say I am glad he got in free or else I would have been upset.  He would bawl any time I would put toys in front of him and sit him down.  All the other kids seemed to have fun though!

This slide was the extent of his leaving my lap.  Notice his expression?  Pure hatred.
This was how the rest of the day was spent.
Or it was spent like this.

At least all the other kids had fun!

Jett's Birthday

These are Jett's 9 month photos.

Jett at One Year:

Weighs 26 pounds
 and is 29 inches tall.

He likes to babble along to the music in the car.
He points his finger at what he wants.  Mom likes this much better than the whining.
He crawls really fast
He can't quite walk but he can take about 2 steps before he realizes what is going on and drops to the ground.
He loves to push buttons.  Phones and remotes are his favorite toys.  Fake ones are not fooling him either.
Everything is a remote.  He will hold it up, point it at any screen, and push the buttons.  (my tivo child)
He likes to wave to everyone.
He likes everyone, but mostly Grandma Debbie.  Sometimes I wonder if he can't tell us apart?

He loves dogs.  He things they are mobile stuffed animals.  We have been really lucky to only be around really  child friendly dogs.  Zoe (Josh and Katie's dog) lets him pull her tail and could care less.  Which is good seeing as how she is about twice his height.
Jett loves to be chased.  We often crawl on all fours and run after him.  This game can last a while.
He has slept through the night since he was 3 months old.  Minus a few 'off' weeks, this has been a HUGE plus for me.

My little baby is 1!  Celebrations are in order, don't worry, pictures will be posted soon!

Back to Work

Well March 1st was officially the first day at work for the Berry's.  I am working part time at the same place I worked before.  Different job, same company.  Instead of working on the show homes I am going to be working  in the design center with people as the purchase houses, and all that goes along with that.  In other news, Mick got a promotion at his job and started his new job the same day.  He still has to train the guy who took his previous job, so I haven't heard a lot of details yet.  He seems to like it so far.  Needless to say it was an interesting day.

My new job is going to be great.  I get to meet new people all the time and I am going to be much busier. I like having my own tasks to complete and I get to work with a lot more people.  Less stress, more fun, better work. I think it will be a much better  fit.

My little guy is going to be a year old tomorrow.  I can't believe it.  A year ago today I was naively running to the hospital thinking they would just send me home, saying "silly first time moms.  Come back when you are really in labor".  Who knew they would insist that child be born in the next 12 hours.  It has been such a LONG year in terms of changes to our lives and changes to HIS life but we are ever so grateful that we have him.

Until tomorrow,

Brooke
