B's Favorite Things

So I have been trying to think of things to post that aren't just pictures of Jett or funny stories about how he peed into his own eyes. Since I have been spending more time at home, I keep thinking of things I REALLY LIKE that I have, so here is my list of favorite things I have rediscovered recently.

My wii fit keeps me entertained every afternoon and helps me think I am getting skinny. I LOVE IT. I am more motivated by unlocking new games than actually working out, so it works for me.

My tivo keeps me entertained at night when there are no good shows on and I have to be awake.

My sling, which I have just started to fall in love with. I can get so much more done in a day with this thing on!Sudoku is my favorite game. I have a daily calendar so I get a new game every day! No Alzheimer's for me!

Well, that is all I can think of for now... What are some of your favorite things?

Stay Tuned

The last few months I have felt like all my creativity has been sucked out of me. In terms of Interior Design I used to have all of these great ideas. I think a lot of it came from being in school and working with a lot of creative people and feeling like you really had to be your best to have a finished product that even compares with theirs. I mentioned this to a friend of mine who gave me an idea...

I am so excited, I think it is something that could EVENTUALLY bring in some extra income while allowing me to stay home with little man. Even thinking about it has got be jumping up and down and thinking of all sorts of ideas.

So stay tuned, everyone reading this will be the FIRST to know what the plan is!

The Labour Story

A few people have asked me to tell them the whole story, so for those of you who can’t handle it, just skip this post. It is a little long because I wrote it out for myself, so feel free to skip any section you want!

So Monday night rolls around, and I am talking with Mick about everything that was going on that week and all we had to get done (I am a BIG to do list person, it makes me happy). When all of a sudden I felt like I peed my pants a little. So feeling stupid I run to the bathroom but I was relieved to see I didn’t pee my pants. Well as the night went on, I started feeling cramp like feelings. In our childbirth class they emphasize that you are not to go to the hospital until you are uncomfortable enough you can’t talk or contractions are 8 minutes apart. I am lying on the floor with a heating pad yelling at Mick, WHAT TIME IS IT? So I can keep track of timing. But they aren’t unbearable and I can talk just fine. I keep saying to Mick, we will be lucky if we make it to the morning. I immediately panic and start packing bags. Also, for some reason, start writing in my journal. I am ordinarily a very good journal writer, but I haven’t don’t so good since I got married for some reason.

Finally at 4am I called the health link to ask if my water had broken. The nurse told me your water could have broken, and since you are strep B positive I would just go in. This answer seemed to relieve my stress and I fell asleep on the couch! I drove Mick to work and ran errands all day. I met Mick at home and we agreed to go to the hospital. They would probably send me home right away but it is better to go and be safe then not go. Mick had a meeting so I convinced him to drop me off and just pick me up on the way home. So up I go, at the admitting desk I timidly tell them I am worried my water broke, so nervous they are going to laugh in my face. They hook me up to the monitors and run a few tests. Wouldn’t you know it, they couldn’t believe I waited all day, and the baby’s heart rate kept dropping so I was admitted! Now, to get a hold of Mick! Only 10 minutes has passed since he dropped me off so he hasn’t even made it to work for the meeting yet. I wait for a while and keep trying his work number. So I call my mom to come over, who luckily called my dad. About an hour later, Mick walks into the office and my dad tells him I am in the hospital and had to emphasize, they are admitting her, you better get over there.

Eventually Mick shows up. I am moved to a delivery room and am put on pitocin to speed up conractions. I still hardly feel any pain, just uncomfortable crampy feelings. My stomach is itchy; I had to keep the monitors on because of the baby’s heart rate dropping. Debbie and Mick are counting contractions and telling me when I should feel more. We all took bets on the time the baby would be born, I was hoping for 10 pm (it was probably around 9:00) and Brandon had guessed 4am and I wanted to kill him for being so cruel and wanting me to suffer that long. April Hughes, a friend of mine who was on shift that night said I wasn’t very far dilated and it would probably be 9am. I could have killed her. I am starting to get more uncomfortable. I got the epidural (and for those of you who have never had one, the IV hurt 10,000 times worse than the epidural, which I didn’t really feel). Debbie and Mick are now bored and pull out the phones to text and get onto facebook. I just sleep. Throwing up seemed to help get me dilated because after my next nap the told me it was time to push! I somehow convinced myself this was a 10 minute procedure and was disappointed when the nurse told me to expect 2-3 hours. This was not so great and I could feel a LOT more than I thought I would. I was still sleeping between contractions/pushing so I kind of wasn’t all there, but I remember yelling that I was ready to be done with this. The nurses told me his head was out and I could touch it, to which I was disgusted and said, UM NO! I remember yelling, if his head is out, can’t you just PULL him out? And little man was born at 4:25 am, 6lbs 11.8 ounces and 20 ½ inches long.

Do you see what I see?

My feet are finally looking normal and I can wear shoes again! The shoes are way more exciting than getting back into my normal clothes! I don't have to listen to people telling me not to wear flip flops any more!

2 Weeks Old

Little man is 2 weeks old today. I have to say, I have a whole new respect for mothers of more than one child. I don't understand how you can take care of a new born and have another kid running around the house to take care of. Jett is a really good baby, but he wants to be held 24/7. There reaches a time in the day that I am just dying to take a shower or do anything for myself such as eating! He will be almost asleep and the second I lay him down he starts to wimper. I try to give him his soother but he just spits it out. Its so frustrating. This kid better be sleeping through the night at six weeks or I might just go crazy.

Soothing Center

My mom got us this swing at my baby shower that is called the 'Soothing Center'. At first appearance it seems to be just a regular swing! However, this is the Mercedes of all swings. It plugs in so no batteries are required (but you can buy 4 D batteries if that is what you would like to do). It has 6 speeds 4 songs, but BETTER YET you can plug your ipod into it and play any song you like! When I called debbie as I was putting it together to thank her and share in the excitement she said, OH I bought it because I liked the color! It was neutral! Haha, thats my mom! SO today I put Jett into it and he just relaxed. I think I met my new best friend.

He`s Here!

He was born March 4th at 4:25 am. He weighed 6 pounds 11 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. The official name is Jett Joshua Berry.

Well, it was quite the experience that needs more details than this, but we didn`t get the chance to bring our bags to the hospital so Mìck`s cell was dead and we had no cameras except my moms cell phone (which she can`t figure out how to get the picture off of) so you will have to go to her blog to see the pictures that she has!

More details to follow when I have had some sleep!

Update

It has been a busy week this last week. Mick finally got his letter to go for his immigration interview. He recieved his work permit in November but we had to go downtown and speak with the immigration office to finalize all of his paperwork. He is now a legal 'permanent resident' of Canada. So he has the same rights as being a citizen he just can't vote and doesn't have to pull jury duty. The interview was interesting because we were both nervous about me being pregnant. I had to sign a paper saying I would financially support him if needed for the next three years. I just thought they would see me large with child and think, okay if he lost his job and you have to support him, how do you think you are going to go about doing that? I was all prepared to defend myself by explaining my maternity leave payments and savings. When we got to the interview waiting room, however, I would say 70% of the Canadians in the couples were women and most of them were carrying around babies. It made us think, when we filled out the application, most of the questions we answered and documents we had to provide were to prove that it was a legitimate marriage and not just for immigration. SO HELLO, A child only HELPS the issue. They didn't want to see dating and wedding photos and hear how we met just so they can get to know us a little better!

After the immigration interview was over I only had one day left of work. I could totally relax and I thought, NOW this baby can come anytime. I just didn't want to leave the hospital to run to the interview. I had a wonderful baby shower on saturday so I am feeling a lot more prepared, and I have asked everyone so many questions, I think I can handle this.

So today was my first day home from work. I thought I would sleep in and watch TV but I thought I better get the house clean. Lucky for me my mom is also very motivated to get the house clean, so it is basically organized. I am sooooo happy. Now we just have to finish sewing my crib bedding and we are ready to go!
